Electrolysis
Electrolysis is the only method of hair removal approved by the Food and Drug Administration and American Electrology Association for permanent removal of unwanted hair. Electrology can target hair with little or no pigment including blonde, red and gray hair, versus laser hair removal that cannot target these lighter pigmented hairs. Laser hair removal is considered Permanent Hair Reduction.
Electrolysis is permanent hair removal. Regardless of the cause - heredity, metabolic, or hormonal conditions - electrolysis will permanently remove unwanted hair to reveal a glowing, confident you. If you are embarrassed by unwanted hair, you are not alone. As many as ninety percent of all men and women may be affected to some degree. Heredity and hormonal changes are important factors which contribute to hair growth. Sometimes hormone levels are normal, but the hair follicle may be sensitive to androgen's.
During your procedure a small electric current is transmitted by a fine, sterile probe (or needle) directly into the natural opening of the hair follicle, destroying the dermal papilla, the matrix, and an area called ""the bulge"", all of which cause hair to grow and regenerate. The skin is not harmed or punctured or harmed in any way, and for most people the entire process causes very little discomfort. Most patients report tweezing and waxing to be more uncomfortable then electrolysis.
Treatment is considered to cause very mild discomfort; however, a topical anesthetic cream may be applied beforehand in order to ensure a more comfortable procedure. Sessions typically last between 15 minutes to an hour, depending on the area being treated. Due to the hair growth cycle occurring in three different stages, multiple sessions may be required in order to achieve optimum results. The number of sessions required will vary for each individual person.
With Electrolysis, there are generally no permanent side effects; However, temporary side effects may occur post-treatment. Such side effects may include the skin feeling irritated or appearing slightly red. These side effects are considered normal and should subside naturally within a few hours. There is no downtime associated with the treatment, allowing patients to return to their daily activities immediately after treatment. Follow up sessions are highly recommended, as dormant follicles may begin to grow hair between sessions. Price includes sales tax.
